Ambassador Liu Yuxi Met with AUC Commissioner for Political Affairs, Peace and Security Ambassador Bankole Adeoye

On April 14, H.E. Ambassador Liu Yuxi, Head of the Mission of China to the African Union met with H.E. Ambassador Bankole Adeoye, AUC Commissioner for Political Affairs, Peace and Security. The two sides exchanged views on China-African Union relations and cooperation in the field of peace and security.

Ambassador Liu said that China and Africa are good friends with a shared destiny. Since the outbreak of the pandemic, China and the African Union have always stood firmly together to fight against the pandemic, which set a model of global solidarity against the pandemic. China is willing to take this opportunity to promote deepening and solid cooperation in various fields under the framework of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) and the Belt and Road Initiative. China always attaches great importance to the issues of peace and security in Africa, and is willing to continue to strengthen coordination with the African Union on hotspot issues in Africa, enhance African Union’s capabilities in peacekeeping, counter-terrorism and the construction of sustainable peace, and contribute wisdom and strength to the comprehensive peace and security on the African continent.

Ambassador Bankole Adeoye praised the mutually beneficial and win-win partnership between China and Africa, expressed gratitude to China for its long-term support to the African Union, and spoke highly of China’s active participation in the African peace and security operations and its great efforts to maintain peace and stability in Africa. He looked forward to further the pragmatic cooperation in this field in the future.
